![]() ![]() If this is not enough let me explain it a bit more. I know this is pretty old motherboard and CPU, but. Right now I'm using Intel Pentium 4 2.66GHz/512k/533 and I got this new CPU 3.20GHz from a friend. Tried to replace them and got error message 1801 Microcode update needed because processor stepping was incorrect for this new CPU. So I found my CPU stepping in BIOS and it was E0 and BIOS version was v1.11. I've flashed my BIOS and now it's version v2.44 and it supports CPU stepping for F26, F27 and F29 and I was sure that my problem will be solved, but. After I updated my BIOS it shows that my old CPU works at F29 CPU stepping and the new one needs F41, now I'm trying to find a latest BIOS version for my motherboard and that's why I asked for CPU support. Am I wasting my time or not? I have overheating problem with new CPU and CPUID shows only 1 core and 1 thread and this CPU have 1 core, 2 threads because it's 2HT. Here's my BIOS info if it helps: General Information: Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard (COMPAQ) Version: 786B2 v2.44 Date: (mm/dd/yyyy) Address: 512KB Copyright: Copyright (c) 1982,2008Hewlett-Packard Development Company L.P.-All rights reserved SMBios Version: Unspecified DMI Version: 2.3 Bios EFI: No I hope so there is someone who understands this mess and who is willing to help a NOOB (me)!!! -Thanks- CoR. It's me again I see this is too complicated and no replay yet, so we could try something else. Can you try to find the latest BIOS version for my motherboard and try to help me that way? Last BIOS I found is v2.50 but I'm not sure is that the latest BIOS. OEM BIOS support is often limited to ONLY the CPU(s) sold with your PC i.e. As an option and ALL of the other CPU(s) will not have the CPUID to properly run the CPU. You will have to contact HP and request a specific list of supported CPU(s). I did see the following - Intel Celeron with 400-MHz, 128KB L2 cache ranging from 2.0 to 2.4-GHz Intel Pentium 4 with 533-MHz, 512KB L2 cache ranging from 2.4 to 3.06-GHz Intel Pentium 4 with 800-MHz, 512KB L2 cache with HyperThread ranging from 2.4C to 3-GHz You listed: Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor supporting HT Technology 3.20 GHz, 1M Cache, 800 MHz FSB The listed limit was up to 3.0GHz and not your 3.2GHz which is 9.9/10 the problem. Hi according to HP memo see the following answer hope it help: DESCRIPTION After installing a different system board or processor in systems described in the 'Scope,' the systems may halt during POST and display an 1801 Microcode Patch Error with a prompt to press the F1 key to continue. NOTE Pressing the F1 key will allow the system to continue. However, processor performance may not be optimized and the error will repeat each time the system is restarted. HP recommends that the microcode be updated to ensure optimum compatibility and performance. Sep 09, 2009|. Jan 29, 2016 The Gigabyte is dead and HP ceased support for the d530 SFF long time ago and, since it's a propietary BIOS, the Asus update won't work. As it is, it work fine and boots ok beyond F1, but is there a way to know wether the CPU is.
